Who is the FCC (Federal Communications Commission)?

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent US government agency, directly responsible to Congress, and regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable.

What does the FCC have to do with Contiga Broadcasting?

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is the regulator of on-air decency between the hours of 6 AM - 10 PM in each time zone. Broadcasts which are considered indecent by community standards are subject to fines and penalties by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). However, Internet Broadcasting is currently exempt from FCC regulations.

Contiga Broadcasting does not have to comply with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) at this time, but has decided to self-impose some regulations.

What regulations does Contiga Broadcasting impose?

Contiga Broadcasting has ruled that on-air talent that use excessively vulgar language is not permitted at any time. However, Contiga Broadcasting does not edit the music that is aired on its stations, as Contiga Broadcasting feels that would be violating the artist's work. Tracks that are edited have been receieved from the Artist or Label directly in that format.
